Research On TC-PHBHHx/β-TCP Compounds Used Treating Dry Socket In SD Rats

Objective: In this experiment, β-TCP is used as the3-d bone scaffold；With TCP, Tetracycline and PHBHHx are mixed to form a compound(TC-PHBHHx/β-TCP) which is employed in the treatment model of Dry Socket ofSD rats after tooth extraction. To study the effects of the compound on DrySocket, this experiment tries to find a treatment that can both be antibacterialand osteogenic and to provide theoretical support for future clinicalapplication.Methods:72male SD rats, with upper left anterior teeth being extracted,are infected with Dry Socket according to measures directed by references.7days later, they are are divided randomly and evenly into four groups: GroupA-uninfected socket without any treatment; Group B-infected socket treatedwith debridement and with iodoform gauzes stuffing the socket; Group C-infectedsocket treated with debridement and with periocline covering the socket; GroupD-infected socket treated with debridement and by TC-PHBHHx/β-TCP. Afterbeing treated for1/4/8weeks, those samples are fluorescently labeled and madeinto hard tissue biopsies and decalcified sections, which then are statisticallyanalyzed the osteogenic areas using the histomorphometric analysis method.Results: I. At the same observation time, the osteogenesis results of allgroups are: the results of Group A, B and C are not statistically different to each other, while Group D’s result is statistically different to those of theabove three.II. At different observation time, the osteogenesis results of the samegroup are: Group A’s results are statistically different; Group B’s resultsare not statistically different; Group C’s results are not statisticallydifferent; Group D’s results are statistically different.Conclusions: I. TC-PHBHHx/β-TCP has significant anti-inflammatory andosteogenic effects.II. iodoform gauzes and periocline have good anti-inflammatory results butnon-significant osteogenic effects.
