Ventilator is a key equipment in the treatment of critical patients. However, there arevery high requirements in the use and management of ventilators because of theircomplex constructions and quick upgrading in products and technology. Neonatalventilators, which are specific for low-weight critically ill newborns, are more precisethan adult ventilators. The stability of the equipments has a great impact on thesuccessful treatment. Although the number of neonatal ventilators in use is growingquickly nowadays, the lack of management experiences and professional clinicalengineers in the domestic hospitals has caused the lackof standardized management to the quality of ventilators in use. Meanwhile, neonatalventilator calibration scheme has not been mentioned particularly in the nationalventilator calibration specification, so the current domestic neonatal ventilatorquality management is still at a comparatively low level. The clinic needs desperatelya specification in the quality management of ventilators and a suitable calibration forneonatal ventilators.Firstly, this paper has made an in-depth research on the clinical uses of ventilators.Combined to the clinical requirements, the writer has made a general survey on thequality conditions of used ventilators, searching out the qualityproblems occurred during clinical work and then analyzed on their reasons. Secondly,in line with the clinical use, it has brought up technical indexes suitable for neonatalventilator calibration such as small tidal volume and etc. The paper has also provedstatistically that these technical indexes are significant for neonatalventilator calibration. Finally, the writer proposed targeted intervention measure to thequality problems of clinical used neonatal ventilators by quality control. The clinicaltrials have proved that the measure could improve the quality of used neonatalventilators effectively. The research of this paper is based on clinical practice. Abundant surveys anddetections have been done. The paper has explored the management process ofneonatal ventilator, established the quality control systems and obtained obviouseffects through effective intervention. It is highly evaluated by the clinical staff.
