Objective:To explore the expression of regulatory T cells (Treg) in peripheral blood of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients and the correlations with clinical prognosis. Methods:To summarize and analyse the collected clinical data of28cases of chronic lymphocytic leukemia patients with newly diagnosed. The study enrolled30healthy individuals and28CLL patients. The Treg were detected by the flow cytometry in their peripheral blood. Of the28CLL patients,19received treatment and follow-up. Application SPSS17.0statistical software for statistical analysis quantitative data using the mean±standard, using t-test between the two groups were compared, using Pearson or Spearman correlation analysis, P<0.05prompted difference was statistically significant. Results:28cases of newly diagnosed CLL patients enrolled in22cases of male and6female, median age65years (38to79) years of age.19cases received treatment and follow-up, lost one case, one case of death, seven cases untreated.8cases (28.58%) in Binet A stage,20cases (71.42%) in B/C stage. Rai staging low-risk group (O~Ⅱ stage) was18cases (64.29%), high-risk group (Ⅲ~Ⅳ stage) was10patients (35.71%). The hemoglobin of Rai0~Ⅱ stage patients in pre-treated was higher than Ⅲ~Ⅳ stage, the β2-microglobulin(β2-MG) of Rai0~Ⅱ stage patients was lower than Ⅲ~Ⅳ stage, the difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). The number of CD4+CD25+Treg in pre-treated cases (n=28) was higher than that in the healthy controls (n=30) with significant statistical difference (p<0.05). The number of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Treg were higher in pre-treated cases (n=28) than that in treated cases (n=19) and in the healthy controls(n=30)(p<0.05). Compared with the healthy controls, thet reated cases (n=19) had the higher level of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Treg (p<0.05). The CD4+CD25+Treg was positively correlated with the β2-MG, ZAP-70and the Rai stages. The CD4+CD25+Foxp3+Treg was positively correlated with the expressions of CD38, p2-MQ ZAP-70and the clinical Binet and Rai stages. Conclusions:Treg might be a valuable indicator for assessing the therapeutic efficacy, disease progression and prognosis of the CLL patients.
