Objective To identify the high risk factors and complications for patent ductus arteriosus(PDA)in preterm infants. Methods A Case-Control Study Was conducted on266preterm infants in our NICU in April2012to2013.There were96cases with PDA and170infants without PDA. Last we studied the case-control study on the two groups of clinical information with Logistic regression. Results Single factor analysis showed that PDA in preterm infants was significantly associated with gestational age, birth weight, antenatal steroids, fetal distress, oxygen inhalation, birth asphyxia, respiratory failure, hyaline membrane disease, septicemia, fluid intake. The logistic regression analysis showed the use of magnesium sulfate(OR=0.247),severe infection(OR=0.589)and small gestational age(OR=0.310)were the main high risk Actors for PDA in preterm infants, while oxygen inhalation(OR=1.114)are protective factors. The occurrence of PDA can lead to complications such as IVH(P=0.001),BPD(P=0.015) and ROP(P=0.040).Conclusion The use of magnesium sulfate, severe infection and small gestational age were the main high risk Actors for PDA in preterm infants, while oxygen inhalation are protective factors. The occurrence of PDA can lead to complications such as IVH, BPD and ROP.
