Objective To systematically evaluate the effect of terlipressin andalbumin on prevention from post-paracentesis circulatory dysfunction(PPCD).Methods The PubMed, EMbase, Cochrane Library and CNKI database were searched to identify randomized controlled trials published beforeOctober2013that compared the effect of terlipressin and albumin onprevention from PPCD. Meta-analysis was performed using the softwareRevMan5.2.5.Results The meta-analysis revealed that, compared with albumin group, the terlipressin group had no significant difference on the level change ofmean arterial pressure, plasma aldosterone, serum creatinine, serum sodiumand body weight. The weighted mean difference (WMD) and95%confidence interval (CI) were0.22(-2.02,2.45, P=0.85),-2.41(-188.26,183.44, P=0.98),2.02(-5.40,9.44, P=0.59),0.12(-1.59,1.82, P=0.89),-0.54(-1.41,0.33, P=0.23).Conclusion Terlipressin have similar effect with albumin onprevention from PPCD. It may completely or partly replace the use of albumin.
