ObjectiveTo establish an animal model of orthodontic rootabsorption,investigate the relationship between the expression ofinterleukin-17(IL-17) and root absorption during the process of orthodontictooth moving.Methods80male SD rats were used to establish the models for orthodontic rootabsorption,which were divided into4groups (Control group,40g,60g,80g)according to the different values of orthodontic force,each group was alsodivided into4subgroups(1d,4d,7d,14d) according to the duration of theorthodontic force applied,the tissues was stained with hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining and tartrate resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) to observethe histological changes of the root resorption of rats. the gingivalcrevicular fluid of rats were collected,The expression of IL-17in the same areas was investigated with immunohistochemical staining and enzymelinked immunosorbent assay enzyme(ELISA).Results1.Root absorption was commonly observed in the middle part of theroot,the extent of which depended on the force and duration applied,theroot absorption began from the4day and mild continually and heavily in7day the root absorption was increased along with force increased;2.the expression of IL-17was mild positive in the1day,the expressionof IL-17was strong positive in7day,the expression of IL-l7midrangepositive in14day.Involvement of Interleukin-17in periodontal tissuesduring orthodontic tooth movement in reconstruction, prompt attentioncontrol force size and cycle should be in the clinical operation;3.Interleukin-17may play an important role in the orthodontic rootabsorption.Conclusions1.Some regularity was found in orthodontic root absorption.the rootabsorption began from the4day and mild continually and heavily in7daythe root absorption was increased along with force increased;2.Involvement of Interleukin-17in periodontal tissues duringorthodontic tooth movement in reconstruction, prompt attention controlforce size and cycle should be in the clinical operation; 3.Interleukin-17may play an important role in the orthodontic rootabsorption.
