Acute patellar dislocation usually associated with exercise is acommon occurs most frequently in adolescents knee injuries and is thesecond most common cause of traumatic hemarthrosis of the knee.MRI ofthe knee is recommended in all patients who present with acute patellardislocation.Patellar re-dislocation appears to depend primarily on medialpatellar ligament injury. Most of the patients with primary dislocation ofthe patella suffered from medial patellar ligament injury. There are fewrandomized controlled studies, and treatment in the acute situation iscontroversial. Most authors having reported that the conservative treatmentwith first patellar dislocation has a good results, surgical intervention maybe necessary in the presence of severe cartilage damage or subluxation ofthe patella.Medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction to stabilize theknee is more reliable than a simple repair, which has limitations related tothe medial patellofemoral ligament injury location. The clinical outcomeof acute patellar dislocations remains highly uncertain with regard to thefactors that predispose a patient to patellar instability...
