Degenerative Cervical Endplate Modic Changes In Its Function And Significance In The Development Of Cervical Intervertebral Disc Herniation

Objective:By MRI observation of cervical intervertebral disc herniation, explore thedegenerative cervical endplate Modic changes in its role in the developmentof cervical intervertebral disc herniation and its significanceMethods:Since2011/12-2013/12years were retrospectively analyzed in hunanprovince people’s hospital outpatient and inpatient medical records of180patients with cervical intervertebral disc herniation，age range of47-88years old. Cervical spine MRI scan all segments (3C2/C3/C4/45C5/6/C6/7C7/T1), According to the presence of Modic changes and to evaluateassociated with degree of cervical intervertebral disc herniation area,statistical correlation of the two.Results:180cases of cervical intervertebral disc herniation (286prolapsed discs)meet the inclusion criteria, With Modic levy58cases(32.22%),286outstandingabout69occurred in the adjacent segment of the cervical intervertebral disc Modic changes(25.12%), the C2/3segments0, C3/4section10, C4/5section17,C5/6section26, C6/7section16, c7/1section0. The incidence of Modicchanges were14.49%,24.64%,37.68%and14.49%respectively，72%(50/69) Modicchanges occur in the rear end plate. In cervical Modic changes the percentageof different age groups:40to49years old group was5.2%,50to59yearsold group was13.8%,60-69age group was29.3%,70~79years old group was20.7%,80~89years old group was30.0%,80%of visible Modic changes occurover60years old age.Modic in cervical part are mainly distributed in C4/5,C5/6and C6/7(85.51%) Has significant difference (P <0.01). Spearmancorrelation test showed that Modic changes and were positively associated withthe degree of cervical intervertebral disc herniation (r=0.386, P <0.01).Conclusion:1.Cervical endplate Modic phenomenon same as collar dish outstanding goodhair segments. Between dish outstanding performance in the same level nearthe rear end plate of Modic changes associated with cervical intervertebraldisc herniation were positively correlated.2. Cervical degenerative Modic changes in development in cervicalintervertebral disc herniation is important link, is probably between dishhighlight the important pathological basis, has important clinicalsignificance.
