| Objective The aim of this study is to analyze the popular trend and characteristics of masslead poisoning events and children’s blood lead level in China, and to summarize theprevention and control strategy of lead poisoning in United States, Canada and otherdeveloped countries. Through analyzing the insufficiencies of prevention and control strategyof lead poisoning in our country, It’s provide reference to reduce children’s blood lead levelsand the risk of lead poisoning and improve children’s health in China.Contents and methods (1) Several electronic databases and web sites were systematicallyquarried for mass lead poisoning events which took place in2004~2012of China, with theindex word of “Lead pollution ","lead poisoning","excessive lead" and "events" tocomprehend the events overall epidemic situation and characteristics.(2) Three databaseswere retrieved for the relevant literature of0~6years old children’s blood lead level in Chinaduring2008.1.1~2012.12.31, With the search term of "children’s blood lead","children leadpoisoning", blood lead level "and so on to understand the children’s blood lead level and leadpoisoning rate of the overall situation.(3) Through introducing the prevention strategy ofchildren lead poisoning of the United States and Canada, to find out the deficiency existing inchildren lead poisoning preventing strategy in China, and put forward the feasible strategy inimproving our country children lead poisoning level. Results (1) Since2004,at least50mass lead poisoning incidents of different levels havetaken place in our country, in which32incidents happened in2009; The events mainly occurin the east area(46.0%) and the central relatively developed area(32.0%); Lead smelters andlead battery enterprises are the main pollutant sources; Children and occupations are the mainvictims of lead paint events;(2) Systematic investigation of the27provinces (municipalities)involve280,000people reveals that in recent5years0~6year-old children’s average bloodlead level was63.15μg/L, the average rate of lead poisoning was12.31%; On the whole bloodlead level increases with age; In27provinces/municipalities (except Shaanxi, Zhejiang, Jilin,Chongqing), the children average blood lead level decreased, in which the lead poisoning rateof Shaanxi and Zhejiang province increased; Boy’s blood lead level was higher than the girls. (3) Compared with the the lead poisoning prevention and control strategy of developedcountries, eg. the United States, Canada, China, the dissertation provide feasible suggestionsfor implementation of prevention and control measures for children lead poisoning in China.Conclusion1. Mass lead poisoning events happened frequently in our country, which mainly influencedoccupational population and children and has obvious distributional properties. Lead smeltersand lead battery factory are the main cause of the incidents;2. In recent five years, the preschool children’s blood lead level and lead poisoning ratecontinued to decline in China, but compared with developed countries there still exists a biggap.3. Compared with developed countries, lead poisoning prevention strategy in our countrylacks systematic research. So in order to gradually reduce child blood lead level,we need tofurther improve the environmental laws and regulations, strengthen the health educationstrategies and multi-sectoral cooperation. |
