Stroke also means cerebral apoplexy. It is divided into two types:ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke. Stroke is an acute cerebrovasculardisease in traditional Chinese medicine. Stroke has the following symptoms, such as, suddenly collapsed, unconscious, dysphasia and hemiplegia.Stroke is characterized by high incidence rate, high mortality, highmorbidity, high recurrence rate and complications, it is considered as one ofthree big diseases (included coronary heart disease and cancer) that threatenhuman health. The importance of prevention and treatment of stroke is wellknown all over the world, the prevention and treatment measures of strokeis explored by the physicians on every aspects.Risk factors of stroke cannot be corrected including age, gender, race, genetic. Risk factors of stroke can be corrected including hypertension, heart disease (especially the atrial fibrillation), diabetes, dyslipidemia, smoking, drinking, lack of exercise, obesity and asymptomatic arterialstenosis and Transient cerebral ischemic attacks (TIA).Hypertension is one of the most important risk factors for stroke, withthe rise of blood pressure, the incidence of stroke is also increased. Controlof blood pressure can reduce the incidence of stroke in hypertensivepatients. The major aim of this study was to collect the domestic andforeign randomized controlled trials, to extract the data about stroke inpatients with hypertension who was taking the first-line antihypertensivedrugs, to perform an meta-analysis, and then to provide strong evidence forthe prevention and treatment of stroke in hypertensive patients.
