Objective:This study was designed to observe the serum TGF-β1level of atrial fibrillation patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation and analyze its correlation with left atrium electrical-mechanical asynchrony and left atrium diameter, and to evaluate the predictive value of serum TGF-β1level for recurrences of different types of atrial fibrillation radiofrequency ablation. Methods:From March2011to March2014,47patients who were about to have atrial fibrillation ablation from cardiovascular ward of the second Xiangya hospital were enrolled in this study. Before and after the ablation procedure all subjects’clinical data were collected. The concentration of TGF-β1, left atrium diameter and left atrium asynchrony T were measured and analyzed. Results of concentration of TGF-β1and left atrium asynchrony T were compared among groups of patients with different types of atrial fibrillation and different ablation outcomes. Afterwards, their predictive values in atrial fibrillation ablation outcomes were evaluated. Results:The results showed that serum TGF-β1concentration and left atrium asynchrony T were much lower in PAF group (21.32±3.07vs30.89±3.14ng/ml, P<0.001;22.79±2.55vs27.00±2.39ms, P<0.001, respectively).10patients (25.6%) had recurrence after ablation while29patients (74.4%) didn’t have recurrence after ablation in the PAF group, and left atrium asynchrony T were higher in the recurrence subgroup while no significant serum TGF-β1concentration differences were found between two subgroups of PAF group.6patients (75%) had recurrence after ablation while2patients (25%) didn’t have recurrence after ablation in the nPAF group. The following parameters turned out to be significant predictors for ablation recurrence outcomes:the left atrium asynchrony T for PAF recurrence (AUC=0.867±0.064, P=0.001). While the predictive value of concentration of serum TGF-β1is limited. Besides, serum TGF-β1levels were positively correlated with left atrium diameter (r=0.74, P<0.001) and left atrium asynchrony T (r=0.65, P<0.001).Conclusions:Serum TGF-β1levels may reflect atrium fibrosis levels of different types of atrial fibrillation, and are correlated with left atrium diameter and left atrium electrical-mechanical asynchrony.
