| Objective:To discuss the therapeutic effects of sanpi decotion in ulcerative colitis mice and investigate its likely therapeutic mechanism.Methods:Forty BALB/C mice were divided randomly and equally into normal group, model group, sanpi decotion group, and sulfasalazine(SASP) group, ten mice in each group. After set up the oxazolone colitis, sanpi decotion group and SASP group were treated with sanpi decotion and sulfasalazine respectively, to observe general state of health (to observe the weight、food and drink、stool situation of the mice) every day. Killed all of them on the tenth day, separated the spleen and weight it, got the colon and evaluated the histological changes of the damaged colonic tissues, and measured the interleukin (IL)-4and IL-6concentrations in serum and spleen by using the ELISA.Result:1. The symptom of SASP group and sanpi decotion group Ulcerative colitis mice had great amelioration compared to model group mice2.The immune organ spleen of the model group mice was conspicuous shrunk, and compared to model group, the weight of spleen in SASP group and sanpi decotion group was increased.3. The concentration of IL-6in the serum and spleen was markedly increased in model group, and the expression of IL-4was decreased, oral administration of sanpi decotion significantly increased the expression of IL-4(P<0.01), and down regulation the expression of IL-6in the serum and spleen compared to the model group.(P<0.01) Conclusion:1. Sanpi decotion can certainly treat the Ulcerative colitis model mice.2. Sanpi decotion can decrease the serum and spleen concentration of IL-6and heighten the IL-4concentration,3. The imbalance among the cytokines plays an important role in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis.4. Sanpi decotion can ameliorate the ulcerative colitis by regulate the balance of the cytokines, to relieve the inflammation in the colon, improve the function of immunity, and finally control the inflammation in the colon. |
