A Meta-analysis For The Efficacy And Safety Of Drainage After Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty

Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of draiange after total knee arthroplasty.Methods:Studies on comparison between with and without drainage after primary total knee arthroplasty were identified from Cochrane Library,PubMed,Medline, EMASE,CBM,Highwire,CNKI,VIP,Articles Digital Periodicals,Manual retrieval of the 《orthopedic journal》,《journal of the Chinese surgical》,《Chinese journal of orthopaedic trauma》,《Chinese Medical Journal》,《journal of the trauma》,《Chinese journal of bone and joint injury》,《Chinese journal of orthopaedic surgery》,the journal of clinical orthopaedics and related conference papers at home and abroad in recent years,All the randomized controlled trials were included for meta-analysis with RevMan5.1.5software.Result:9studies involving7in foreign languages,2in Chinese were identified.There were706cases of knee replacemen,drainage359,non-drainage347.The results of meta-analysis indicated that there were no statistical difference between two groups on the number of wound infection,deep venous thrombosis,the hemoglobin values decrease of7day after operation,knee pain of7、14day after the operation,knee ROM after the operation, length of hospital stay(P>0.05).while there were statistical differences with respect to total blood loss,the number of blood transfusions,the number of skin ecchymosis,the increasing rate of knee circumference of3days after the operation(P<0.05).Conclusions:Primary uncomplicated TKA surgery does not routinely placed drainage may be a better choice,but for large area release and orthopaedic primary TKA still need placed drainage, Orthopedic surgeons need to weigh the pros and cons.
