Objective:To discuss the parameter selection of Ilizarov steel ring in the treatment of tibial osteomyelitis Method:A retrospective analysis was made on67patients with tibial bone defect from March of2007to October of2012,_with41Male cases and26female cases, age from15to58years. The average age of35±2.4years.All patients were patients with fracture of tibia and one stage operation, postoperative limb with bone defect of tibia osteomyelitis and soft tissue injury.Ilizarov exernal fixation was placed in the limb. Results:67patients were followed up for6to35months. The average time was26.5months.67cases of bone defect were rebuilt with healed fracture;40cases of wound healed;4cases of wound did not heal. Follow up the length of tibia defect and the area of soft tissue defects after the operation for1,3,6months, including the last time and it was found that both of them were significantly improved compared with preoperation.(P<0.05). After operation, the ankle joint Kofoed score and knee joint in patients with ROM were significantly better than those before operation.(P<0.05). One year after operation, the evaluation of therapeutic effect of various surgical methods with the good rate、the middle、the poor were84%、7.5%and7.5%separately.Conclusion:For the tibial osteomyelitis bone defect with the merged skin defect, applying the Ilizarov technique to treat the trauma can avoid several complicated operations, shorten the time and reduce the expenses of treatment, but there were some weaknesses and limitations.
