Objective:To investigate the relationships between low birth weight and the environmental factors about polybrominated diphenyl ethers indoor and detection the Initial mechanism of LBW, to provide a scientific basis for the prevention of the Occurrence of low birth weight newborns. Methods:using a case-control study, randomly drawing50normal birth weight newborns and50low birth weight newborns of Han and Uighur respectively from Xinjiang children’s hospital, Xinjiang maternal and child care service centre and People’s Hospital of the Autonomous Region from March to December in2013in Urumqi, then using the questionnaire survey to learn the the environmental factors about Polybrominated diphenyl ethers indoor and multivariate Logistic regression analysis were used to find the relationship between environmental factors and low birth weight. At last Collecing the umbilical cord blood to detect the thyroid hormone levels using electrochemical luminescence and the activities of CYP450, uridine diphosphate glucuronyl transferase (UGT), glutathione S-transferase (GSTs) and sulfotransferase (SULT) using Immunohistochemistry assay. Results:(1). the normal birth weight in Han is3292.20g and the normal birth weight in Uighur is3359.1g. The LBW weight of2206.4g in Han is greater than the LBW weight1985.84g in Uyighur (P<0.05).(2) the multi-factor logistic regression analysis showes that the possible factors of Han LBW are twins or multiple births, pregnancy complications, the usage time of carpets indoor and the risk factors for Uighur low birth weight are Twins or multiple births, the home decorations, the numbers of carpet, the usage time of carpets indoor.(3) compared with normal group, T3, T4levels in Uighurs and Han low birth weight groups significantly decreased (P<0.01), the TSH levels were significantly higher (P<0.01); the serum TSH levels between Uighur and Han normal birth weight were different statistically (P<0.05).(4) compared with normal group, the enzyme activities of CYP450, UGT and GSTs increased in Uighur and Han statistically (P<0.01); Conclusion:compared with the Han nationality, the PBDEs exposure indoor is probably the important factors of low birth weight occurrence in Uighurs, and metabolic enzyme activities associated with thyroid hormone level change is one of the possible mechanisms of the low birth weight.
