Objective:Explore the relationship between Carotid Intima-media Thickness(CIMT) and Oxidized Low-density Lipoprotein(ox-LDL) in Patients with Atherosclerosis Cerebral Infarction(ACI).Methods:123patients with ACI who were treated in Department of Neurology in the First People’s Hospital of Changde from2013-08to2013-11were recruited according to the inclusion criteria.Meanwhile,43control subjects with matched age and sex frequencies who never suffered cerebralvascular disease were selected. All the participants were recorded general information, medical history and there height, weight, blood pressure, oxidized low-density lipoprotein, blood lipid, fasting blood-glucose,C-creative protein, homocysteine and uric acid were measured.Based on the CIMT,the patients were divided into two groups:normal CIMT group and abnormal CIMT group. Then the patients who had carotid plaques were made further to classified into stable-plaque group and unstable-plaque group.Results:1.The incedence of hypertension, hyperhomocysteinemia and hyperuricemia, the level of plasma oxidized low-density lipoprotein, the detection rate of increased CIMT, carotid plaques and unstable plaques of the ACI group were significantly higher than the control group(P<0.01).2.The carotid plaques of ACI patients were mainly observed at carotid bifurcation(53.2%) and the distribution of stable and unstable plaques were nearly the same(P>0.05).3.Age(r=0.183,P<0.05),ox-LDL(r=0.255,P<0.01),fasting blood glucose(r=0.187,P<0.05) and homocysteine(r=0.193,P<0.05) had positive correlations with Carotid Intima-media Thickness of ACI patients.4.The plasma ox-LDL of ACI patients were found to be independent risk factor of increased CIMT (OR=1.013,P<0.01) and unstable carotid plaques(OR=1.154,P<0.01).Age(OR=1.047,P<0.05),Gender(OR=4.227,P <0.05) and hyperhomocysteinemia(OR=3.615,P<0.05) were independently associated with CIMT.Conclusion:Plasma ox-LDL of ACI patient which were associated with increased CIMT and unstable plaque, could be used as early screening indicator of abnormal CIMT and unstable plaque in clinical practice.
