Objective: To probe the curative effect of the Five lines of acupuncture to treatpatients with middle or advanced malignant tumor, in order to provide the supportiveresearch data for the application of the Five lines of acupuncture to treat middle-latemalignant tumor in clinical.Methods:62patients with middle-late malignant tumor who met the diagnosticcriteria were collected, and randomly divided into treatment group and control group,31cases in each group. Patients in control group orally took Chinese herbal medicine,according to the related disease standard in the textbook of Chinese Internal Medicine,daily1agent, take2days off for five days, this cycle, a total of6weeks treatment.Patients in treatment group added the Five lines of acupuncture treatment on this basis,once a week, a total of6weeks treatment. Before and after the treatment, patientsneeded to fill in the quality of life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30), the selfdepression rating scale (SDS), the self anxiety rating scale (SAS). Evaluated thechanges of quality of life according to the15indicators in EORTC QLQ-C30, andevaluated their changes of anxiety or depression by the total score of SDS or SAS.With that, we judged the curative effect of the Five lines of acupuncture.Results:1) Compare of quality of life itself before treatment and after treatment: ThePatients in treatment group had remarkable improvement in quality of life after theirtreatments.15indicators compared with before treatment, the P values were all less than0.05. The patients in Control group also had improvement in quality of life after theirtreatments. But the emotional functions, nausea and vomiting compared with beforetreatment, there was no difference (P>0.05). The rest of13indicators compared withbefore treatment, the P values were all less than0.05.2) The difference of two groups inthe improvement of quality of life: The treatment group and the control group had nodifference in improving the role function, economic difficulties (P>0.05).But thetreatment group was superior to the control group in the rest of13indicator’simprovement (P <0.05).3) Compare of depression and anxiety themselves before treatment and after treatment: In treatment group after treatment, patients withdepression or anxiety had markedly improved, compared with before treatment (P<0.05). In control group after treatment there was no obvious improvement in patientswith depression or anxiety, compared with before treatment (P>0.05).4) Thedifference of two groups in the improvement of depression and anxiety: The curativeeffect of the treatment group is superior to the control group at reducing the middle-latemalignant tumor patient’s depression or anxiety (P <0.05).Conclusion:1) The Five lines of acupuncture treatment can improve the middle-latemalignant tumor patient’s quality of life, and do not significantly increase theireconomic burden, and has unique advantages to improve their negative emotions, suchas depression or anxiety.2) As a new method of treatment, the Five lines ofacupuncture can be used as an important supportive treatment program to middle-latemalignant tumor patients because of its obvious curative effect in improve the qualityof survival, the negative emotions such as depression and anxiety.
