Objective:This study is aimed to investigate the expression of Livin and XIAP in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of adenomysis tissue and normal endometrium tissue, explore the relationship between Livin and XIAP, and discuss the role that Livin and XIAP play in the development of AM.Methods:The expression of Livin and XIAP was measured in46samples of ectopic endometrium(28cases of proliferative phase,18cases of secretory phase)of patients with endometriosis,40samples of eutopic endometrium(26cases of proliferative phase,14cases of secretory phase)of patients with endometriosis and35samples of normal endometrium tissues (19cases of proliferative phase,16cases of secretory phase) by using immunohistochemical SABC method. The relevance of the proteins Livin and XIAP was also analysed. Statistical analysis was performed by using SPSS17.0statistics software. There was significant difference if P less than0.05.There was statistically significant difference if P less than0.01.Results:1. Immunohistochemical results showed that in proliferative phase and secretory phase, the positive rates of Livin in both eutopic and ectopic endometrium tissues were significantly higher compared with that in normal endometrium (P<0.01), but the positive rates in eutopic and ectopic endometrium had no significant differences (P>0.05); Normal endometrium tissues, eutopic endometrium tissues and ectopic endometrium tissues within the group, the positive rates in proliferative phase and secretory phase had no significant difference. In comparison of the menstrual cycle which was not divided, there was statistically significant difference among them (P<0.01). The positive rates of Livin in both eutopic and ectopic endometrium were strongly higher compared with in normal endometrium (P<0.01), and the positive rate in ectopic endometrium was higher than that of eutopic enometrium (P<0.05).2. In proliferative phase and secretory phase, the positive rates of XIAP in both eutopic and ectopic endometrium were strongly higher compared with that in normal endometrium (P<0.05), but the positive rates in eutopic and ectopic endometrium had no significant differences (P>0.05). The expression of XIAP in proliferative phase was higher than that of in secretory phase in both normal endometrium and ectopic endometrium. There was no significant difference in ectopic endometrium. In comparison of the menstrual cycle which was not divided, there was statistically significant difference among them (P<0.01). The positive rates of XIAP in both eutopic and ectopic endometrium were strongly higher compared with that in normal endometrium (P<0.01), and the positive rates in eutopic endometrium and ectopic had no significant differences (P>0.05).3. The Spearman rank correlation analysis indicated that the positive expression of Livin and XIAP in ectopic endometrium tissue had no significant correlation (P>0.05).Conclusions:1. Positive expression of Livin and XIAP in eutopic endometrium of patients of AM was significantly higher than that in normal endometrium, so eutopic endometrium of patients of AM differed from normal endometrium, which was susceptibility to reduce of apoptosis. It may promote the occurrence of AM.2. Positive expression of Livin in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of adenomysis tissue was higher than that in normal endometrium tissue, and in ectopic endometrium was higher than that in eutopic endometrium tissue. There was no periodic change. It promted Livin had played an important role in the occurrence and development of AM by inhibiting the apoptosis of endometrial cells.3. Positive expression of XIAP in eutopic and ectopic endometrium of adenomysis tissues was higher than that in normal endometrium tissue, but it had no significant difference between eutopic endometrium and ectopic endometrium. In normal endometrium and eutopic endometrium tissue, the positive rates in proliferative phase were higher than that in secretory phase. It proved Livin had played an important role in the occurrence and development of AM by adjusting the apoptosis of endometrial cells.4、In AM,positive expression of Livin and XIAP had no significant correlation, contrary to previous studies, which proved the mechanism of action of Livin and XIAP remains to be further investigated.
