ObjectivesTo estimate the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with bleeding stasis collaterals therapy for Hyperplastic disease of breast (HDB), in order to explore a more effective treatment.MethodsThis was a randomized controlled trial, performed at Guangdong province hospital of TCM.66women who had HDB were diagnosed by HDB diagnostic criteria and B ultrasound, molybdenum target radiography, and then they were randomly divided into treatment group(acupuncture combined with bleeding stasis collaterals)and control group(routine acupuncture). Controlled group used RN17, ST18, ST15, LR14and ST40, other points were selected by syndrome differentiation. While the breast local points were used by treatment group were same to controlled group, other points of that were different, this group included GB34and PC6which on the both limbs. Then bleeding stasis collaterals which around the local breast, the counterpart of breast on the back and the inner elbow. Study period for two menstrual cycle, treatment began with patients’menstrual clean and stopped at menstrual onset,2times a week. According to HDB therapeutical criteria, graded the main character of breast lump and accompany symptoms (mood change, abnormal menstruation, rib fullness) before and after treatment respectively.ResultsThere were66patients involved,3shedding cases. The factual cases included32patients of treatment group, while patients of control group were31.(1)Breast Pain-relief:Beginning and ending of the course, the treatment group’s breast pain score were21.56±5.25and6.94±2.99, the control group’ s breast pain score were19.94±4.99and9.29±4.79, after the course, a significant statistically difference between both of groups was indicated (P<0.05).(2) lumps Hardness-relief:Beginning and ending of the course, the treatment group’s lumps hardness score were6.66±1.66and3.56±1.19, the control group’ s lumps hardness score were6.77±1.89and4.45±1.88, after the course, a significant statistically difference between both of groups was indicated (P>0.05).(3) lumps Range-lessening:Beginning and ending of the course, the treatment group’s lumps range score were5.81±2.40and5.25±2.29, the control group’ s lumps range score were5.32±2.15and4.84±2.00, after the course, a nonsignificant statistically difference between both of groups was indicated (P>0.05).(4) lumps Size-lessening:Beginning and ending of the course, the treatment group’s lumps size score were5.72±2.20and5.25±2.16, the control group’ s lumps size score were4.94±2.27and4.55±2.03, after the course, a nonsignificant statistically difference between them was indicated (P>0.05)(5) Accompany Symptoms-lessening: after the course, the treatment group and the control group’s accompany symptoms score had a significant statistically difference between both of groups(P<0.05).(6) Curative Effect:After all the course, the overall response rate(OR) of treatment and control group was93.75%,83.87%respectively. A significant statistically difference was indicated(P<0.05).Conclusion(1)After two menstrual cycle, the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with bleeding stasis collaterals therapy for HDB was superior to routine acupuncture therapy, in the aspects of breast pain, lumps hardness and accompany symptoms. All of those results indicated the regulation function of acupuncture combined with bleeding stasis collaterals therapy for local organs as well as the whole.(2) This clinical research suggested that it was difficult in changing the breast range and size for two menstrual cycle.
