OBJECTIVE:To provide a reference for early diagnosis and treatment, we report two idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer(IPF-LC) patients and analyze the symptoms, radiologic and pathologic features.METHODS:Summary of the two IPF-LC cases by pathological diagnosis and retrospectively analyze teratures to explore the clinical, pathological, radiological features of IPF-LC.RESULTS:The idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer patients usually have no specific signs or symptoms, and mainly the manifestation of the idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which is misdiagnosed as acute exacerbation of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is common show that reticular opacities and honeycomb lung under the pleura and the cancer is representation that mass, nodules and lymphadenopathy in the radiological changes. There is no effective treatment and the prognosis is very poor. The majority patients can only survive about1year.CONCLUSIONS:The clinicians often ignore this disease and misdiagnose acute exacerbation of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, if there is no mass. When the acute exacerbation of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis frequently occurs, we should consider the possibility of lung cancer with the patients who have no mass, nodules or lymphadenopathy. Periodic review of chest CT is importantly tip to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and lung cancer patient.
