Objective This experiment was designed to discuss the nicotine’s effect to the expression of AQP1、AQP3and VEGF in the rabbit’s intervertebral disc. Two groups received nicotine and NS respectively the same volume and concentration. Then we measured the quantity we got by immunohistochemistry. At last we can know how the nicotine accelerates Intervertebral disc degeneration. Methods Buying26healthy mature rabbits borned7-10months ago from The Laboratory Animal Center of Dali Univesity and dividing into two groups randomly-15for the control group and others for the experimental group. Subcutaneous injiection of6ml/kg nicotine were given the experimental group3times a day while the other group received the same volume of nomal saline. Puting the animals to death after2months’ feeding. Then we removing and analyzing the expression of AQP1、AQP3and VEGF of the L4/5intervertebral by immunohistochemistry. At last the results were analyzed by Statistics. Results1Immunohistochemisty method demonstrates:The expression of AQP1、AQP3existed in interverbral tissue. Compared with experimental intervertebral disc, AQP1、AQP3’s level were higher than the control’s. The difference make sense in statistic(P<0.05).2The expression of VEGF in control group is lower than the experimental group.The diffenence also is meanful in statistics. Conclusions Nicotine should be the high risk factor to intervertebral disc degenetation due to its effect to the expression of AQP1、AQP3and VEGF...
