ObjectiveThrough application of echocardiography, to evaluate the changes of cardiac structure and function in patients with hemodialysis. To observe the differences of cardiac structure and function before and after dialysis, further analyze its causes. To explore the changing trends of cardiac structure and function with the increase f dialysis age.MethodsAll echocardiographic data was collected from54patients in hemodialysis room and42outpatients undergone healthy physical examination in Tanggu Chinese hospital. First of all, through the comparisons of cardiac chambers’ size, wall thickness, left ventricular systolic and diastolic function and pulmonary systolic pressure between research group and normal control group, to evaluate the changes of cardiac structure and function in hemodialysis patients on the whole. Then the data from research group was divided into two subgroups by before and after dialysis. To observe the differences of cardiac structure and function before and after dialysis, investigate its reasons. Finally, the research group was divided into two subgroups by within and above30-month age. Combined with the control group, to explore the changing trend of cardiac structure and function with the increase of dialysis age.Results1. Compared with the normal control group, the research subgroup after dialysis showed enlarged cardiac chamber size, thickening ventricular septum, the increase of stoke volume, heart rates, cardiac output and pulmonary systolic pressure, the decrease of ejection fraction and E/Aratio(P<0.05).2. Compared with the subgroup before dialysis, the subgroup after dialysis showed smaller cardiac chamber size, thickening ventricular septum, the decrease of stoke volume, ejection fraction, cardiac output and pulmonary systolic pressure, the increase of heart rates and E/Aratio(P<0.05).3. With the increase of dialysis age, the size of cardiac chamber increases, ventricular septum thickens, E/A ratio decreases, stroke volume and pulmonary systolic pressure increase (P>0.05).Cardiac output of the research group increases than the control group(P>0.05). The comparison between the subgroups with dialysis age within30-month and above30-month showed no significances.(P>0.05)Conclusions1. Cardiac chambers, especially in left atrium and left ventricle, increase in maintenance hemodialysis patients along with left ventricular hypertrophy. At the same time, left ventricular systolic and diastolic function is damaged with higher pulmonary systolic pressure. Many factors take part in the changes and promote each other.2. Echocardiographic manifestations before and after dialysis show significant differences, but all objectively reflect the status of cardiac structure and function. The main reason is that too much moisture and toxin in body is filtered out in the process of hemodialysis.3. The changes of cardiac structure and function in patients with hemodialysis are long-term results of many factors. With the increase of dialysis age, the damages of cardiac structure and function worsen gradually.4. Echocardiography has so many advantages including security, cheapness, good repeatability and real-time dynamic imaging, can be quantitative or semi-quantitative to assess the state of cardiac structure and function of dialysis patients.
