Objective:To investigate the expression of PEA3、β-catenin in epithelial ovarian carcinomaand the clinical significance,evaluate its possible role in the pathogenesis,development,infiltration and metastasis of ovarian cancer.Material and Methods:60cases of surgically epithelial ovarian carcinoma with clinicopathologic andfollow-up data were retrospectively reviewed, and20cases of normal ovary tissues,20cases of ovarian benign cancer and20cases of ovarian borderline cancer were studiedas a control at the same time.The expression of PEA3and β-catenin were detected bythe immunohistochemistry.The possible relationship between the expression of PEA3and β-catenin and clinicopathological parameters were analyzed with SPSS software,the effects on pathogenesis and development of ovarian epithelial tumors.Results:The abnormal expression of PEA3in normal ovary tissues, ovarian benign cancer,ovarian borderline cancer were0(0/20)、0(0/20)、20%(4/20)、70%(42/60),(P<0.05).The expression of PEA3in ovarian epithelial carcinoma had correlation withhistological grade, serum CA125before therapy, peritoneum metastasis and survivaltime (P<0.05). The expression of PEA3in ovarian epithelial carcinomas, the size ofresidues lesions and ascites(P>0.05).The abnormal expression of β-catenin in normalovary tissues, ovarian benign cancer, ovarian borderline cancer were0(0/20)、5%(1/20)、25%(5/20)、68.3%(41/60),(P <0.05). The expressionofβ-catenin inovarianepithelial carcinoma was associated with histological grade, histological subtypes, peritoneum metastasis and survival time(P<0.05).The expression of β-catenin inovarian epithelial carcinoma had not correlation with clinical stages, ascites, the size ofresidues lesions, serum CA125before therapy,the age of patients(P>0.05). Thenumber of common positive expression about PEA3and β-catenin in ovarian epithelialcancer were35cases, the number of common negative were12cases, there was asignificant positive correlation between the expression of PEA3and β-catenin inovarian epithelial carcinoma(r=0.400,P=0.002). Until the follow-up visit time,32caseswere dead in60cases of surgically epithelial ovarian carcinoma,28cases were stillsurvival, Kaplan-Meier analysis showed the five years survival rate of patients with thepositive expressionofPEA3and β-catenin has a downward trend.Conclusions:In ovarian epithelial cancer,the more of histological grade and peritonealmetastasis,the higher expression of PEA3and β-catenin, with the research at home andabroad.PEA3and β-catenin high expression in ovarian epithelial cancer is closelyrelated to the infiltration and metastasis,PEA3regulate and control the expression ofβ-catenin,the positive expressionof β-catenin have back action at PEA3bysome signalpath,They have important effects on pathogenesis,development, infiltration andmetastasis of ovarian epithelial tumors. PEA3and β-catenin maybe play an importantrole in the development of ovarian carcinoma and represents a useful criterion insurvival and prognostic categorization of ovarian cancer for clinic.
