Objective:TO analysis CT imaging characters of osteitis in patients with chronicrhinosinusitis. Explore the impact of gender, age, nasal polyps, system duration ofosteitis.Method:130patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), hospitalized in ourhospital to undergo primary surgical from January2009to January2009,were selected.A retrospective survey study was taken to analyze the incidence of osteitis and it’simaging characteristics. UNISIGHT TeamView software and global osteitis scoresystem (GOSS), Lund-Mackay scoring system were used to analysis CT images,Patients were grouped according to gender, age, nasal polyps, the system duration.SPSS20.0statistical software was used to analysis data, for comparing the relevantfactors of osteitis.Result1.The incidence of osteitis in CRS was34.6%(45/130), of grade2or moremeaningful osteitis was31.5%(41/130). The highest incidence came to maxillarysinus(26.9%(35/130),22.3%(35/130)) and anterior ethmoid sinuses (24.6%(32/130),21.5%(28/130)). Score of GOSS increased from3to36, and at an average of14.07+8.5.2.Lund-Mackay score of130patients raised3-22, and at an average of7.9+4.3.There was an significant difference between patients with and without osteitis onLund-Mackay score (t=4.34,p<0.001). 3.Score of GOSS was correlated to Lund-Mackay score in patients with osteitis, r=0.950, p <0.001).4.The incidence of osteitis was35.3%(30/85) in male patients, and33.3%(15/45)in female patients. There was no significant difference between them (x2=0.05, p=0.05).5.The incidence of osteitis was38.9%(35/90) in patients with nasal polyp, was25.0%(10/40) in patients without nasal polyp. No statistical difference was found inthem,(x2=2.360, p=0.124).6.The incidence of osteitis was22.2%(6/27) in young patients (20to39years’old);29.1%(16/55) in middle age group patients (40to59years’ old);47.9%(23/48) inelderly group (60-81years’old). Difference of the three groups was found (x2=6.326, p=0.042).7.Patients were divided in four groups according to system duration. The incidenceof osteitis was13.9%(5/36) in group A(3months to12months),25.0%(9/36) in groupB (13months and24months),45.7%(16/35) in group (25months to60months),65.2%(15/23) in group D (>60months). There was a great difference of this fourgroups (x2=17.725, p <0.001).Conclusion: Patients with chronic sinusitis accompanied by osteitis has aremarkable feature on CT imaging. About a third of the patients accompanied by osteitis.Maxillary sinus and the anterior ethmoid sinus have the higher incidence of osteitis.Gender, nasal polyps have no correlation with the incidence of osteitis. Age, systemduration seems correlate to the incidence of osteitis.
