Objective: Alzheimer’s disease is a kind of insidious onset, gradual progressnervous system degenerative disease, it’s mainly clinical manifestation is cognitivedysfunction. The diagnosis lack specificity, misdiagnosis rate is higher. Based on linearmeasurement the structure of brain is a kind of traditional, simple, easy to clinicaloperation method, it can provide good morphology for diagnosis AD and evaluate theseverity of the disease. We applied the method of MRI linear measurement is in thisarticle to evaluate the brain atrophy of AD patients, in order to understand thepathological process of the disease, further to explore the value of early clinicaldiagnosis AD and monitoring the progress of the disease. Methods: Collected28cases of AD patients and28cases of normal healthyelderly from the first hospital affiliated to Dalian Medical University neurologydepartments. Two sets were assessed clinically using MMSE and MoCA cognitive tests.WE applied3.0superconducting MRI system to linear measure the structure of brain ofall participants. The manual measurement of the interuncal distance and the width ofleft、right medial temporal lobe is on the particular level of axial view T1WI, Themanual measurement of the width of left and right temporal horn is on the particularlevel of coronal view T1WI. Standardized the measuring results of the linear indexes. The measurement datas fit the normal distribution by inspecting Single sample K-S test.Applicating t text to compare the differences between the two groups. ApplicatingPearson text to analyse the the relationship between the linear measurement indicatorsand rating scales of the28patients. Results:1.There are no statistical differences of gender, age, education level between ADpatients and healthy controls(P>0.05). the MMSE and MoCA cognitive tests scores ofAD patients is obviously lower than normal controls.(P<0.01).2. The measurement of linear indicators results show: the interuncal distance andthe width of left、right temporal horn of AD patients is obviously wider than normalcontrols(P<0.01);the width of left and right medial temporal lobe of AD patients isobviously thinner than normal controls(P<0.01).3. The analysis result of the relationship between the linear measurement indicatorsand rating scales show that in the case group, significantly negative correlations werefound between the width of left and right temporal horn and the MMSE、MoCAcognitive tests scores (P<0.01); negative correlations were found between theinteruncal distance and the MMSE scale score(P<0.05);positive correlations werefound between the width of left and right medial temporal lobe and the MMSE scalescore(P<0.05);there is no correlations between interuncal distance、 the width ofleft、right temporal lobe and MoCA scale score(P>0.05).Conclusions:1. The linear measurement of MRI can be used to identify AD patients and normalhealthy elderly. Interuncal distance、 the width of temporal lobe and the width oftemporal horn can be used as a quantitative index.2. The linear measurement of MRI can be used to evaluate the severity of ADpatients. Interuncal distance、 the width of temporal lobe and the width of temporalhorn all have correlations with the severity of the disease. Among them, the width oftemporal horn is the most sensibility.3. the width of temporal horn has been changed in the early stage of AD,so themeasurement of the width of temporal horn can be used as one of the early radiographicindex of brain structural change.
