| Objective:To investigate cerebral infarction of rats with hypertension and the effectof electro acupuncture on nerve function at different time point and its possiblemechanism. Methods:Models of stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats (RHRSP) wereestablished by the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). Rats were divided intooperation group, model group and electro acupuncture group randomly. After MCAO,neural precursor cells (NPCs) were marked and neurologic impairment scores wereevaluated and electro acupuncture was done in D1, D7, D14,and D28respectively.The brains were removed from the executed rats and The pathological process andimmune histochemical examination were performed at the corresponding time points. For each group, the number of the GAP-43ã€Nestin and GFAP cells around the focalcerebral infarction at each time point was observed. Results:Neurologic impairment score of the sham operation group was18at eachtime point. The score of the electro acupuncture group was higher than that of themodel group at each time point, there was significant difference between the twogroups in D7, D14(P<0.05). The score was normal for both groups in D28. Thenumber of proliferating cells at acute cerebral infarct focus increased significantly, and BrdUã€Nestinã€GAP-43and GFAP cells were reached their peaks at the edge ofcerebral infarct focus at the end of1st week.(P<0.01)After MCAO, the number ofGFAP cells around cerebral infarct focus were increased at each timepoint(P<0.05).The number of GFAP cells in electro acupuncture group was significantlylower than that in the model group (P<0.05),the number of cells were still the mostWeek One.Conclusion:After MCAO, nerve dysfunction of rats was recovered with4weeks and the recovery was promoted by electro acupuncture treatment within1~2weeks.All of neural precursor cells, neural stem cells and growth associated protein andastrocytes alterated, after Cerebral infarction and Electro acupuncturetreatment. Thecorresponding change composed the materal basis of neural function of plasticity, which was probably the premise of various therapy. |
