Objective:(1) To explore the association between estrogen receptor (ER) gene po lymorphisms and acute primary angle-closure glaucoma (APACG) in women with PC R-restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP).(2) To probe into the way of ap praise APACG-prone, to provide new ideas for preventing and treating APACG in wo menMethods:(1) Whole blood samples were obtained from113female patients with APACG and96healthy female with controls.(2) Genomic DNA was extracted from t hese samples followed by the analysis of polymorphism at Pvu II and Xba I sites of es trogen receptor alpha with PCR-RFLP.(3) Genomic DNA was extracted from these s amples followed by the analysis of polymorphism at Rsa I and Alu I sites of estrogen receptor beta with PCR-RFLP.4. The frequencies of alleles and genotypes were comp ared between the controls and patients with APACG in women.Results:(1) The frequency distribution of genotypes is accorded with the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium test.(2) The frequency of XX genotype in patients was1.8%and in controls was9.4%; a statistically significant difference was observed between the patients and controls in the frequency of the Xba I polymorphism (X2=8.910,P=0.012).(3) The rate of X allele is19.0%in patients and30.7%in controls; the odds ratio (OR) for X allele was0.530times (OR=0.530,95%CI:0.337-0.832).(4) The gene polymorphism of Pvu Ⅱ didn’t have the statistically significant difference (χ2=0.200,P=0.905).(5) The frequency of rr genotype in patients was61.9%and in controls was31.3%; a statistically significant difference was observed between the patients and controls in the frequency of the Rsal polymorphism (χ2=23.286, P<0.001).(3) The rate of X allele is21.7%in patients and44.8%in controls; the odds ratio (OR) for X allele was0.341times (OR=0.341,95%CI: 0.223~0.522).(4) The gene polymorphism of Alu I didn’t have the statistically significant difference(χ2).961,P=0.619).结论Conclusion:(1) The frequency of Xba I polymorphism has the statistically signi ficant difference between the patients and the controls, and X allele may play a protect ive role in APACG in women.(2) The frequency of Rsal polymorphism has the statisti cally significant difference between the patients and the controls, and R allele may pla y a protective role in APACG in women.
