Objective: To understand the elderly preference to palliative care and advance care planning,andanalyze the influencing factors, then providing theoretical basis for the further developing of palliative careand advance care planning among the elderly.Methods:376elderly from nursing homes were tested with a self-designed questionnaire in theirgeneral situation, the attitude towards death, whether seen endotracheal intubation, cardiac massage,nasogastric, and preference to palliative care and advance care planning. Using SPSS13.0statisticalsoftware to descriptive the data,do Pearson Chi Square test, do single factor analysis and multinomiallogistic regression.Result:(1)Among elderly persons being investigated,60.6%of the elderly preferred palliativecare,24.5%of the elderly dispreferred palliative care,14.9%of the elderly held an ambiguous attitude topalliative care; After adjusting the confounding factors, through the analysis on multinomial logisticregression, it was found that the calm attitude to death, having seen endotracheal intubation, cardiacmassage, nasogastric increased the elderly’s acceptance rate for the palliative care (OR>1.0,P<0.05);The elderly with physical health have the lower acceptance and not acceptance of palliative car(eOR>1.0,P<0.05), and have an ambiguous attitude to palliative care; Having seen endotracheal intubation, cardiacmassage, nasogastric enable the elderly do not accept palliative care was significantly lower(OR<1.0,P<0.05).(2)Among elderly persons being investigated,62.2%of the elderly preferred advance careplanning,28.8%of the elderly held an ambiguous attitude to advance care planning,9.0%of the elderlydispreferred advance care planning; after adjusting for confounding factors, the multinomial logistic regression analysis found that the elderly aged60to79years, marriage is married, attitude to death is calmand fear were increased the elderly’s acceptance rate for the ACP (OR>1.0,P<0.05), having seenendotracheal intubation, cardiac massage, nasogastric enable the elderly do not accept ACP was lower (P<0.05).Conclusion: The elderly have a high degree preference for palliative care and advance careplanning; Acceptance of palliative care for the elderly is mainly affected by health status, attitudes towarddeath, whether have seen endotracheal intubation, cardiac massage, nasogastric; Acceptance of advancecare planning for the elderly is mainly affected by age, marital status, attitudes toward death, whether haveseen endotracheal intubation,cardiac massage, nasogastric.
