ObjectiveTo investigate the effectiveness and feasibility of treating spastic paralysis after stroke by filiform-fire needle under the theory of meridian sinew region.MethodsAccording to the inclusion criteria,60patients of spastic paralysis after stroke were selected by randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with30cases in each group. The treatment group were treated by filiform-fire needle under the theory of meridian sinew region, while the control group were treated by routine acupuncture. Subjects of the two groups were also treated with routine drug and rehabilitation training. Both groups were treated for3weeks for a case. Before and after treatment, the patients’upper and lower extremity muscular tension, ability of activities of daily living and motor function were assessed with the modified Ashworth Scale, CSS, the MBI Scale and Fugl-Meyer Scale.Results1.The baseline data (including gender, age, disease duration) in each group were closely similar in all important prognostic variables (P>0.05). Compared with the control group, the score of muscle tension, Fugl-Meyer and the MBI improved of treatment group into the group were not Significantly different.2. Tested by Ashworth Scale and CSS, the score of the patients’upper and lower extremity muscular tension were lowed after3weeks treatment (P<0.05). After treatment, the two groups had statistical significance (P<0.05). The improvement of muscular tension level of the treatment group were superior to the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).3. Tested by Fugl-Meyer Scale and MBI Scale, the score of motor function and ability of activities of daily living improved after3weeks treatment(P<0.05). After treatment, the two groups had statistical significance (P<0.05). This results revealed that the improvement of motor function and ability of activities of daily living level of the treatment group were superior to the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).ConelusionThe combination of filiform-fire needle under the theory of meridian sinew region could treat spastic paralysis after stroke more effectively. The patients’upper and lower extremity muscular tension, ability of activities of daily living and motor function all could be improved by filiform-fire needle combined with the theory of meridian-muscle region and routine acupuncture for treating spastic paralysis after stroke. However, the treatment group were significantly better than the control group in therapeutic efficacy. In the same treatment cycle, filiform-fire needle under the theory of meridian sinew region group in ensuring the curative effect, can significantly improve the efficiency, saving the time of both doctors and patients.
