ObjectiveBy using randomized and controlled clinical study, evaluated the clinical effect that Xiaoqinglong decoction for treating the wheezing infants’ diseases, and tried to develop simple, safe and effective treatment of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for diagnosis and treatment of these diseases of TCM to provide ideas and lay the foundation for future clinical studies.MethodsSelected the wheezing infants who met the diagnostic criteria for treatment, two groups were divided to the treatment group and the control group randomly, both groups were given the basic treatment (including the symptomatic treatment for fever, oral cyproheptadine, oral montelukast sodium chewable tablets, atomizing inhaled albuterol). Besides, the treatment group would also take the oral decoction (Xiaoqinglongtang subtraction), and the control group would take oral corticosteroids (prednisolone acetate tablets). Set the efficacy of the standard, used statistical analysis to analyze difference between the two methods, and demonstrated the exact effect of the Chinese medicine for treating the wheezing infants’diseases. Both groups would be treated for for seven days, the observation period would last for the tenth days after the end of treatment. Selected the course of the first day, the forth day, the seventh day, the tenth day after the end of treatment for the condition assessment. Scored and recorded children’wheezing, cough, expectoration, pulmonary rale and other signs and symptoms at the fixed time everyday.ResultsThe research subjects were from Guangdong Provincial Hospital of TCM among March2013to March2014. They were randomly divided into the treatment group of30cases and the control group of30cases, a total of60cases. In terms of overall clinical efficacy, the efficacy between the treatment group and control group was statistically significant (P=0.02<0.05). In terms of the follow-up after treatment, there was significant difference between the two groups of the control of breathing (P=0.006<0.01). Acceptance of the terms of the program of both groups was not statistically significant (P=0.029<0.05). Compared with the clinical symptoms before and after treatment, such as wheezing, cough, expectoration, between the two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05), but the pulmonary rale was statistically significant(P=0.019<0.05).ConclusionThis clinical study evaluated Xiaoqinglongtang to treat the wheezing infants’diseases of syndrome cold fluid retained in lung. After testing, it showed that the curative effect of the treatment group was better than the control group, and was preferably able to improve symptom of pulmonary rales, and no symptoms lasted longer. The treatment of TCM would be more popular among parents. However, there were no differences of the improvement among the symptoms of breathing, cough and phlegm. The treatment of Xiaoqinglongtang for the wheezing infants’diseases had the overall modulation characteristic of TCM, it’s worthy of further promotion and research.
