In recent years, the number of children with anorexia on the rise, mostly from one to six years old, long-term reduction of food intake can lead to malnutrition, stunted growth, micronutrient deficiencies, low immunity. It is characterized by fewer points, simple, effective, repeatable and widely clinical application, but lack of the standard evaluation. This research mainly studies the children with anorexia of the common clinical cases who are failure of splenic transportation, qi-deficiency of spleen and stomach. Seventy cases were divided into the experimental group of thirty-five patients and the control group of thirty-five patients randomly. The experimental group was applied with the treatment of Three-character-scripture School Massage. The prescription of failure of splenic transportation included pushing four-transverse-crease point, clearing manipulation on stomach-meridian point, pushing spleen-meridian point to and fro. The prescription of qi-deficiency of spleen and stomach included clearing manipulation on liver-meridian point, clearing manipulation on stomach-meridian point, pushing spleen-meridian point to and fro. The treatment was once every other day, three times per week and continued for two weeks. The control group was treated with inositol-dimensional B12lysine (5ml po bid×two weeks). To remark the appetite and fill the sheet of TCM syndrome score before and after treatment. To pay attention to monitor adverse reactions and shedding. And to follow up the recurrence rate of the effective appetite cases two weeks after finishing the treatment.ResultsIn this research, there were three cases shedding from the experimental group and there were two cases shedding from the control group. The shedding rate was less than10%and the shedding cases were not involved in the statistical analysis of this research. The final cases of the experimental groups were thirty-two and the final effective cases of the control groups were thirty-three. All subjects were without any adverse reactions during the research. The analysis results of two groups were in the following after treatment.Comparison of efficacy of appetite:In the experimental group:eight cases were recovered, seven cases were markedly effective, thirteen cases were effective, four cases were invalid; In control group:two cases were recovered, three cases were markedly effective, seventeen cases were effective, eleven cases were invalid, P<0.01by the Rank inspection. The total effective rates of two groups were87.5%and66.67%respectively, P<0.05by chi-square test. The efficacy of appetite of the experimental group was better than the control group.Comparison of the total TCM syndrome score, P<0.01through the T inspection. The efficacy of the experimental group was better than the control group of the total TCM syndrome score.Comparison of the efficacy of TCM syndrome:In the experimental group: four cases were recovered, eleven cases were markedly effective, fifteen cases were effective, two cases were invalid; In control group:no cases were recovered, three cases were markedly effective, eighteen cases were effective, twelve cases were invalid, P<0.01by the Rank inspection. The total effective rates of the2groups were93.75%and63.64%respectively, P<0.01by chi-square test. The efficacy of TCM syndrome of the experimental group was better than the control group. Comparison of recurrence rate:Two weeks after finishing the treatment, to follow up the recurrence rate of the effective appetite cases. In twenty-eight cases of the experimental group, there were twenty-six cases stable and two cases recurrent. In twenty-two cases of the control group, there were fourteen stable cases and eight recurrent cases. The recurrence rates were7.14%and36.36%respectively, P<0.05by chi-square test. The efficacy of the experimental group was much more stable than the control group.ConclusionWith the method of treatment of Three-character-scripture School Massage to cure infantile anorexia including the type of failure of splenic transportation and qi-def iciency of spleen and stomach, the experimental group was better than the control group. No matter it is based on the curative effect evaluation of the food intake or the curative effect evaluation of syndromes or effect of stability.
