The dissertation is comprised of four chapters altogether. The first chapter was a review on research progress of Liliales medicinal materials recruited by Yunnan Medicinal Material Standard. The second chapter reviewed the chemical constituents and bioactivity of Reineckia carnea (Andr.) Kunth, and described the phytochemical investigation of the whole plant of R. carnea. The review of chemical compositions from Smilax china Linn, was presented in the third chapter, along with the phytochemical research of the rhizomes of S. china, moreover we discussed the genuineness of "Ba Qia" The forth chapter was a summary of this dissertation.Yunnan Medicinal Material Standard divided into seven books was compiled by Yunnan food and drug administration, containing350medicinal materials standards. The plants of Liliaceae distributing widely in china can be divided into three categories: medical plant, edible plant and ornamental plant. The main ingredients of medical plants are steroids and flavonoids. Yunnan Medicinal Material Standard recruited eleven Liliales medicinal materials including Reineckia carnea, Tupistra chinensis, Ypsilandra thibetica. The genus Reineckia is composed of the sole species, Reineckia carnea. which is an important traditional Chinese medicine of Miao Minority. It is commonly used for cough, sore throats, haemostasia, inflammation. Phytochemical research of R. carnea led to isolation often compounds, including two new compounds.Smilax china Linn, belongs to genus Smilax, which distributes in many provinces. The rhizomes of S. china is used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat gout, detoxication, inflammation. Twelve compounds were obtained from the rhizomes of S. china, including seven flavanonol glycosides. Based on previous research of our laboratory, we make a contrast on chemical constituent of S. china from Hubei, Yunnan, Guangxi.
