Background Atherosclerosis(AS),a kind of polygenic hereditary,is as the result of both the interaction of environment and genetic factors. There is correlation between the AS genetic susceptibility and the changes of the polymorphic loci. In recent years a lot of clinical studies suggest that apolipoprotein CⅢ(ApoCⅢ)SstI enzyme gene loci polymorphism is closely related toAS.At present, the relative research of ApoCⅢ SstI enzyme gene loci polymorphism and the incidence of AS has not yet been reported about LI population of Hainan Island. The related risk factors for AS in LI people are unclear. Objectives To study the relationship between the ApoCⅢ SstI enzyme gene loci polymorphism and the incidence of AS in LI population of Hainan, the differrence of the ApoCⅢ SstI enzyme gene loci polymorphism between LI population and Han chinese population, and also the related risk factors for the pathogenesis of AS in LI people. It may provide the scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of AS in LI people of Hainan. Methods The179cases of hospitalized patients with AS,including80cases of LI people and99cases of Han chinese population, were selected as the experimental group during September2012to October2013.The195samples who have been taken the healthy physical examination including95cases of LI and100cases of Han population, were selected as the control group. The relevant information such as the ages were inquired in detail. The height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure and electrocardiogram were examined at the same time. Also, the blood TG,TC,HDL,LDL,ApoA,ApoB,FBS were detected for all samples. The ApoCⅢ SstI enzyme gene loci polymorphism was checked by using Polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).The Statistical data were analysed by SPSS17.0statistical software package.P<0.05means that the difference is with statistically significance. Results①The waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, pulse pressure, FBS, TC,TG,LDL-C,apoB levels in AS group were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.01). The levels of HDL-C,apoAI and apoAI/apoB ratio in AS patients were significantly lower than those in control group (P<0.01).②ApoB and TG levels in AS group of LI people were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.01, P<0.05,respectively).Both the levels of HDL-C, apoAI and apoAI/apoB ratio in AS group were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.01). But among Han population, the levels of TC,TG,LDL-C,and apoB in AS group were significantly higher than those in control group (P<0.01).Also the levels of Lp(a) in AS group were consistent with those in control group.Among the AS group, the apoB levels in LI people were significa-ntly lower than those in Han people(P<0.01).Also the levels of HDL-C, apo-AI and apoAI/apoB ratio in LI people were significantly higher than those in Han people(P<0.01),and the levels of TC,LDL-C and Lp(a) in LI people were higher than those in Han people. The levels of TG in LI were lower, but there were no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).③The genotype frequency of S1S2and S2S2in AS group were obviously higher than those in control gro-up(41.3%v.s.20.5%,41.3%v.s.20.5%,P<0.01).The S2allele frequency in AS gro-up were higher than those in control group(27.9%v.s.13.3%,P<0.01).④There were no statistically significant difference about S2alleles for the comparision of between LI and Han people in both AS and control group(P>0.05).⑤The genotype frequency of S1S2and S2S2,the S2allele frequency in AS patient, were significantly higher than those control group among both LI and Han people (P<0.01).⑥There were no statistically significant difference for the comparison of AS and control group about the clinical blood lipid levels such as TC,TG, HDL-C,LDL-C,apoAI,apoB,apoAI/apoB,and Lp(a) in spite of different genotypes among both LI and Han people(P>0.05).⑦By the multiple factors logistic an alysis, the five items such as waist circumference, blood pressure,TC,HDL-C and carrying S2alleles can be the related influencing factors for the AS pathogenesi -s,during the comparison of AS and control group in LI people(P<0.05). All of carrying S2alleles and increase of waist circumference, blood pressure, TC levels are the risk factors of AS pathogenesis in LI people, when B is positive, OR>1.The increase of HDL-C in LI people is the protective factor for AS, when B is negative,OR<1.Among Han people, the six items such as waist circu-mference,smoking,drinking alcohol, higher TC level, higher TG level and carrying S2alles can be the related influencing factors for the AS pathogenesis in com-parison between AS and control group(P<0.05).All including carrying S2allel-es and the increase of waist circumference, smoking,TC levels,TG levels are the risk factors of AS pathogenesis in Han people, when B is positive,OR>1.Conclusion①The levels of HDL-C in AS group of LI people were significantly higher than those in AS group of Han people, which may be related to race and dieting habits.②There were ApoCIII SstI enzyme gene loci polymorphism in LI people. The S2allele frequency in LI people were lower than those in Han,but there were no statistically difference.③The incidence of AS in Hainan LI people related to ApoCIII SstI enzyme gene loci polymorphism. There was no correlation between ApoCIII SstI enzyme gene loci polymorphism and lipid levels in both LI and Han people, which may mean that there are other ways(such as gene linkage et)involved in the pathogenesis of AS.④This study also showed that carrying S2alleles and the increase of waist circumference,BP,TC levels were the major risk factors for the pathogenesis of AS in LI people, and the elevated levels of HDL-C were the protective factor against AS.Carrying S2alleles, waist circumference, smoking,TC and TG levels were the major risk factors for AS disease in Han people.
