Objective:To investigate the clinical effects of sound therapy on chronic tinnitus, providing new solutions for individualized treatment of chronic tinnitus. Methods:One hundred and sixteen cases of chronic tinnitus patients were treated with sound therapy in this study. Tinnitus Evaluation Questionnaire(TEQ) and anxious degree of tinnitus were filled out before sound therapy,3and6months after the therapy to evaluate the effects. The effect was divided into cured, markedly effective, effective, ineffective. According to the type of Fleldmann curve, divided into Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ, Ⅴ type. And divided into A group(residual inhibition test is completely positive), B group(residual inhibition test is partly positive), C group(residual inhibition test is negative or more severe) according to the result of residual inhibition test. All data were statistically analyzed on SPSS17.0statistical package. Results:The Tinnitus Evaluation Questionnaire level was quantified degree2and/or below, and Restless degree2and/or below were evaluated as mild tinnitus, while Tinnitus Evaluation Questionnaire degree3and/or above, and Restless degree2and/or above was quantified as severe tinnitus. According to the Tinnitus Evaluation Questionnaire evaluation, we concluded that before the treatment there were54cases (23.28%,54/232), for the3months treatment the case increasing to122(52.59%,122/232), and after the6months,12months treatment the case adding up to172(74.14%,172/232),196(84.48%,196/232) respectively, while, there were178cases (76.72%,178/232),110cases (47.41%,110/232),60cases (25.86%,60/232),36cases (15.52%,36/232)with severe degree before treatment, after3months,6months and12months of treatment, respectively, with significant difference (P<0.01). There is no difference among Fleldmann curve type (P>0.05). Residual inhibition test results grouped by sound therapy after3,6,12months treatment showed that:there is no difference among A, B, C group (P>0.05).Conclusion:Sound therapy is proven to be effective in chronic tinnitus. After six months of therapy, the patients have a significant improvement in tinnitus symptoms. Efficacy of sound therapy are continuous improvement and stable after twelve months. Sound therapy for patients with various types of Fleldmann curve and residual inhibition test negative patients. Providing individualized treatment options for chronic tinnitus standardized. Offering economic and convenient measures for patients with chronic tinnitus.
