Object Moyamoya disease has familial transmissibility and it correlates with multiple gene locus. This essay investigate the association of matrix metalloproteinase-3single nucleotide polymorphism with moyamoya disease in the Han population.Methods92patients with moyamoya disease and100healthy subjects were enrolled as a comparison. To detect and analyze the genotypes of MMP-3-11715A/6A(rs3025058) by the method of polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism,PCR-RFLP. Results The frequency of the MMP-36A/6A genotypes was higher in moyamoya patients(OR=4.786,95%CI:1.286~17.807, P=0.012) compared with healthy controls,MMP-36A allele was higher in moyamoya patients(OR=2.167,95%CI:1.305~3.597, P=0.002) compared with healthy controls. Conclusion The MMP-3-1171locus polymorphism is associated with moyamoya disease and need more population and races to confirm.
