The pseudobulb of Cremastra appendieulata (D.Don) Makino was one source of Cremastrae pseudobulbus Pleiones pseudobulbus which was recorded in the2010edition of Chinese Pharmacopoeia and stems from the other two species Pleione bulbocodiodes (Franch.) Rolfe and P. yunnanensis Rolfe simultaneously.C. appendieulata (D.Don) Makino was produced mainly in the provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou, as well as the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and owns the nature of cool, sweet and spicy in taste. Clinical studies show that C. appendieulata (D.Don) Makino had antitumor, antibacterial, hypolipidemic and hypoglycemic effects. So far, phenanthrene, bibenzyl, flavonoids, alkaloids, lignanoids, polysaccharides and other compounds had been isolated from Cremastrae pseudobulbus Pleiones pseudobulbus according to the published literatures while P. bulbocodiodes (Franch.) Rolfe, the one of three, taking up a majority of these compounds. Before the start of this study, the sum of relevant literatures on chemical compositions about C. appendiculata is just above50.The preliminary experiment shown that C. appendieulata could inhibit the cytotoxicity of tumor cells, but its effective ingredients were still unclear. The isolation and purification of the compounds in C. appendieulata was the mainly objective for this article, aiming at laying the foundation of screening antitumor compositions subsequently.20compounds were isolated from petroleum ether fractions and ethyl acetate fractions of Cremastra appendieulata (D.Don) Makino by means of silica gel column chromatography, Sephardex LH-20gel, semi-preparative high performance liquid chromatography and other methods.10compounds had been identified by their physical and chemical properties,1H-NMR spectrums,13C-NMR spectrums and mass spectrums. They were gymconopin D [3’,5-dimethoxy-3-hydroxy-2-(p-hydroxyl-benzyl) bibenzyl](1),3,5-dimethoxy-3’-hydroxy-bibenzyl(2),7-hydroxy-2,4-di-methoxyphenanthrene (3), methyl (4-hydroxyphenyl) acetate(4), cinnamic acid (5), coelonin (4-methoxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthrene-2,7-diol)(6), blestriarene A (4,4’-dimethoxy-9,9’,10,10’-tetrahydro-[11’-biphenanthrene]-2,2’,7,7’-tetrol)(7), militarine(8), GymnosideVII(9), gastrodin (4-hydroxymethyl-phenyl-β-D-glcopyranside)(10) respectively. Among these compounds,1,2,4,5,9were isolsted from this plant for the first time.
