Objective: Extracellular signal regulated kinase (ERK) signaling pathway plays animportant role in tumor progression. This paper explores the expression of p-ERK1/2andmarkers of tumor progression and infiltration(cd34,LN etc.) in breast cancer tissues toexplore the function of p-ERK1/2in breast cancer progression.Methods:76tumor tissue paraffin blocks were collected from patients with breastcancer who were treated between January2010and September2012, which were thensliced into sections and immunohistochemically stained.Activated ERK expression levelswere detected in cancer tissue specimens of breast cancer patients and the associations ofp-ERK1/2level with tumor size, lymph node,TNM staging, CD34,LN, HER2, ER and PRwere analyzed. Then the expressions of p-ERK1/2in breast cancer and its significancewere explored.Results(1) p-ERK1/2expression in breast cancer tissues was significantly associated with thetumor TNM staging (r=0.561, P<0.05).(2) CD34was widely expressed in breast cancer tissues, which was positivelyassociated with the p-ERK1/2level(r=0.284,p<0.05).(3) LN expression in breast cancer tissues was negatively associated with thep-ERK1/2level, that is, the higher the expression of p-ERK1/2, the less the number of LN,and the more the number of ruptured basement membranes. Conclusions (1) p-ERK1/2, involved in the development of breast cancer andassociated with invasion of breast cancer, may play a role in promoting breast cancerprogression by promoting the angiogenesis and the degradation of basement membrane.
