| Objective: To analyze the demographic characteristicsã€risk factors〠clinicalsymptoms and pathologic charactersof early esophageal cancer(EEC) and earlygastric cancer(EGC) in Fujian province.Method: Datas of patients who undergone endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR) orendoscopic submucosal dissection(ESD) in endoscopy center of Fujian ProvinceHospital and confirmed as early esophageal cancer or early gastric cancerwere retrospectively analyzed from2006to2013.The datas were set up thenanalyzed.Result:â‘ Ninety-four patients with EEC consists of59men and35women,whoseaverage age were60.88±7.89and majorly came from PutianCity(47.9%),FuzhouCity(34.0%),andQuanzhouCity(11.8%).Oppositely,seventy-threepatients with EGC consists of49men and24women, whose average age were64.59±9.89and majorly came from Fuzhou City (67.1%) and PutianCity(17.8%).Two groups of smoking, drinking, family history of cancer ratecomparison were no obvious difference(P>0.05).â‘¡Of all the patients with EEC,19.1%had symptoms of substernal pain,11.7%hadsour regurgitation,10.6%had swallowing obstruction,9.6%had belching and35(37.2%) had no symptoms.Their duration of symptoms ranged from7days to30years. Patiens who had suffered gastrectomy had more reflux symptoms (75.0%) thanthe others without gastrectomy (35.4%)(P<0.05).Lesions mainly located in themiddle (54.6%) and lower one third (20.6%)of esophagus. And more patients withlesions in the middle of esophagus had reflux symptoms than those with the lesions in the lower one third of the esophagus (P<0.05).Except for the high levelintraepithelial neoplasia, postoperative pathologiesof the EEC are all squamous cellcarcinomas.â‘¢Of all the patients with EGC,54.8%had symptoms of abdominal pain,13.7%hadsour regurgitation,11.0%had abdominal distension,9.6%had belching,5.5%hadheartburn and18(24.7%) had no symptoms.Their duration of symptoms ranged from3days to10years.Lesions mainly located in cardia(33.8%) and antrum ofstomach(29.2%).And there was no difference in the each part of clinical symptoms(P>0.05).Patients with lesions in cardiac had reflux symptoms were as many asthose with lesions in the esophagus(P>0.05).Conclusion:Risk factors of early esophageal cancer and early gastric cancerconsist of smoking, drinking, family history of cancer and gastrectomy history.Themajority of patients with EEC and EGC have reflux symptoms, which are related tothe location of lesions. And reflux factors may participate in the process of esophagealand cardia cancer pathogenesis. There are not esophageal adenocarcinoma in the EECteam. |
