Objective To investigate the relationship between bone cementdistribution area and postoperative pain of cemented-TKA. Methods50patientsunderwent cemented-TKA between2008and2013,their clinical data were collected and retrospectively analyzed,male(22cases)、female(28cases);age range from40to75-years old with mean age(63.8±8.0years old). The time of followup is1year after TKA. Patients were divided into A group and B group according to VAS.we observed and calculated the paraphyte formed by bone cement exceeding prosthetic border in medial/lateral/patellofemoral/posterior femoral region of knee joint under CT scan.Using VAS to determine pain degree and comparing statistically the paraphyte score of the two groups of four regions.wealso analyze the correlation between the paraphyte score and VAS.Excluding patients with definite reasons such as joint infection;synarthrophysis;prosthesis loosening;lower extremity malalignment;waist-hip diseases. Results No statistical difference of paraphyte score in medial/lateral/patellofemoral/region of knee jointis found between A and B groups,But we found difference in posterior femoralregion.Correlation analysis showed there is a certain correlation between paraphyte score of posterior femoral region and postoperative VAS of two groups. Conclusions The retension of periprosthetic bone cement paraphyte is one of the reasons induce postoperative pain,we need to attach great importance to theuse of certain viscosity bone cement during surgical procedure, clean paraphyteup especially in posterior femoral region where is uneasy to expose,By doing these can we reduce the incidence of postoperative pain.
