Objective: To examine the reference range and the factors of24-hour blood pressurevariability(24hBPV) in normotensive Chinese. Methods:A total of100normotensive Chinese, aged from20to69, were enrolledfrom the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University from January2009toAugust2013. All enrollers were detected by non-invasive ambulatory blood pressuremeasurement. The data of ambulatory blood pressure, age and gender were collected. The standard deviation of the blood pressure fluctuations was used to represent theblood pressure variability. All data were analyzed with the application of theSPSS17.0statistic software. Results:In the article, the findings of the study showed that95%reference range of24-hour systolic blood pressure variability(24hSBPV) and24-hour diastolic bloodpressure variability(24hDBPV) were11.19to12.44mmHg and9.1to10.21mmHg innormotensive Chinese. The result of short-term blood pressure variability strengthshowed that the level of day systolic blood pressure variability was higher than nightsystolic blood pressure, but lower than24h systolic blood pressure variability, whilethe level of day diastolic blood pressure variability was higher than night diastolicblood pressure, but lower than24h diastolic blood pressure variability. Dipper sharpand non-dipper sharp were dominant among blood pressure circadian rhythms innormotensive Chinese. The level of blood pressure variability of dipper groups washigher than non-dipper groups, and the standard deviations of24h-SBP,24h-DBP andday-SBP reached the statistical significance(P<0.05). The left ventricular massindex(LEMI) of dipper groups was higher than non-dipper groups, but the differencebetween two groups did not reach statistical significance(P<0.05). The level ofblood pressure variability of men was higher than women, and the standard deviationsof24h-SBP, night-SBP and night-DBP reached statistical significance(P<0.05). The level of systolic blood pressure variability significantly increased after60years old. Conclusion: In the article, the95%reference range of24-hour systolic blood pressurevariability(24hSBPV) and24-hour diastolic blood pressure variability(24hDBPV)were11.19to12.44mmHg and9.1to10.21mmHg in normotensive Chinese. Dippersharp and non-dipper sharp were dominant among blood pressure circadian rhythmsin normotensive Chinese. Both gender and age might be the factors of blood pressurevariability.
