ObjectiveTo observe the changes and differences of apolipoprotein A-I in serum betweenthe patients with vocal cord polyps and vocal nodules, through a retrospectivecase-control study. To probe the effect of apolipoprotein A-I on the pathogenesis ofvocal nodules and vocal cord polyp.MethodThe female resident or clinic patients who were diagnosed with vocal cord polypsor vocal nodules in the department of otolaryngology of the first affiliated hospital ofFujian Medical University from October2009to April2014were chosen as theexperimental group. While the female resident patients without laryngology diseasewere chosen as the control group. Apolipoprotein A-I (ApoA-I) in the serum wastested in the patients from each group. We use SPSS20.0statistical software toanalyze the data of the experiment group and the control group. The P value <0.05was considered statistically significant.ResultThere are differences among ApoA-I in the groups of patients with vocal nodules, vocal cord polyps and without both of them. There are significant differences betweenApoA-I of the patients with vocal cord polyps and that with vocal nodules in the agegroup of20-49(P<0.05). There was no statistically significant difference betweenApoA-I of the patients with vocal nodules and that of the patients from control groupin the age group of20-49(P>0.05). There were statistically significant differencesbetween ApoA-I of the patients with vocal cord polyps and that of the patients fromcontrol group in the age group of20-49(P<0.05). There was no statisticallysignificant difference among ApoA-I of the three groups in the age group of50-65(P>0.05). Conclusion1.ApoA-I in serum of patients with vocal cord polyps reduced and we consideredthe pathogenesis of vocal cord polyps was different from vocal nodules. The reducedApoA-I effected the pathogenesis of vocal cord polyps.2.ApoA-I in serum of patients with vocal nodules increased, but there was nosignificant difference between the study group. There was no obvious correlationbetween ApoA-I and vocal nodules.
