Objective:To conduct a Meta analysis of the complications between the Group ofLaparoscopic Resection (Group LR) and the Group of Traditional Open Resection(Group OR) of middle and low rectal carcinoma. Methods:Meta analysis is conducted by two reviewers, who independentlyselected and extracted data retrieved from literature and papers on comparisonsbetween Group LR and Group OR that are stored in China Knowledge ResourceIntegrated Database (CNKI), Wangfang Data, Foreign Medical Journal Service(FMJS), PUBMed, EMBASE, and The Cochrane. The data retrieved was publishedbefore August2012. The statistical analysis for research of complex standard isconducted through Revman5.0.Results:The analysis covers1978papers, which, after selection, fall into13categories of clinical case-control studies with a total of2733cases:1368for GroupLR and1365for Group OR. The results show that, compared with Group OR, GroupLR had lower rate of postoperative complication (OR=0.76,95%CI:0.62~0.92,P<0.05), lower rate of postoperative intestinal obstruction (OR=0.53,95%CI:35~80,P<0.05), less complications on surgical incision (OR=0.43,95%CI:0.28~0.67,P<0.05), and similar situations in anastomotic bleeding and bleading in abdominalcavity and pelvic cavity (P>0.05).Conclusion:The overall rate of complications of laparoscopic resection of mid-lowrectal carcinoma is obviously lower than that of open resection. Laparoscope gives anobvious advantage to resection of mid-low rectal carcinoma.
