Objective:The purpose of this study was to test the reliability and validity of the chinese version of the Behavior pain scale. Compare these two pain measurement tools in measuring the effectiveness of pain in critically ill patients, giving reference to clinical staff for selecting the appropriate measures. Methods:The Chinese version of BPS and CPOT was tested in conscious ICU patients with mechanical ventilation in Jiangxi State hospital. Researchers observed patients’ pain-related behaviors by BPS and CPOT when they were at rest、turing and measuring blood. All data is analyzed in excel data by software SPSS18.0.Results:The Chinese version of BPS presented excellent content validity(CVI=1). The Chinese version of BPS and CPOT have high consistency of inter-rater reliability(ICC=0.914、0.889), high test-retest reliability(r=0.925、0.896), good criterion validity (F=20.252、19.485, p<0.05) and good discriminate validity. Conclusion:The Chinese version of BPS and CPOT is reliable and valid tool to assess pain in critically ill patients. Accurately use two scales assess pain in patients with mechanical ventilation have certain prediction efficiency.
