A Clinical Study Of Fenofibrate In Diabetic Macular Edema

Objective：The study investigated the efficacy of fenofibrate in diabetic macular edema(DME),and analyzed the possible risk factors of DME.Methods:The randomized controlled study included38DME patients(67eyes) whocompleted retinal photocoagulation,including15patients(23eyes) of proliferativediabetic retinopathy (PDR) and23patients(44eyes) of non-proliferation diabeticretinopathy (NPDR).Randomly dividing into two groups, the treatmentgroup,including20patients (35eyes) which were oral fenofibrate and compoundXueshuantong capsules,the control group,including18patients (32eyes) whichwere only oral compound Xueshuantong capsules,after4weeks,observingcircumstances of macular edema with optical coherence tomography and correctingvisual acuity;And analyzing circumstances of blood-pressure, blood-lipids andglycosylated hemoglobin before treatment.Result：The patients from treatment group could significantly were reduced fovealretinal thickness, macular volume and average macular thickness after follow-up of4weeks(P<0.05,the difference was statistically significant),and there were significantdifferences between the two groups(P<0.05);The treatment group could be bettervisual than the control group(P<0.05,the difference was statistically significant);Inmost patients of two groups, the blood-pressure(mainly SBP) was higher, the totalcholesterol, triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and glycosylatedhemoglobin were higher than the upper limit of the reference value,but high-densitylipoprotein cholesterol below the lower limit of the reference value.Conclusion:Fenofibrate can effectively promote the absorption of DME,and improve visual acuity;OCT can effectively understand the changes of macular edema inclinical;DME may be associated with blood-pressure, blood-lipids and glycosylatedhemoglobin levels.
