Military general physician is the first-line strength of health security. Their jobperformances have a direct influence on morale, training effect and fighting capacity. Withthe expanding impact of informatization on military development and the transformationof medical model, new subjects of the characteristic description of military generalphysician has emerged. This research is based on quantitative classified description ofmilitary general physicians, comprehensively utilizing expert evaluation, questionnairesand contrastive analysis, also applying advanced tool of job analysis and classifieddescription-----O*NET job analysis system, to quantitatively analyzing military generalphysicians. Experts participated in training course of military general physician in certainmilitary medical university. The total number of senior physicians of bachelor’s degree orabove are129. By verifying the reliability and validity of evaluation tool to analyzefeatures of military general physician and comparing results with the Americanfirefighters, we obtain following results:1. With the application of O*NET job analysis system to military general physician,all subscale Cronbach’s α coefficient is between0.89~0.96; ICC is between0.84~0.94, which have high consistency with U.S. Army.2. Importance dimension over3points is taken as index of job description. The resultis as follows: As for the work style,5dimensions, including responsibility, relationorientation and adjustment, achievement orientation, practical intelligence andindependence, is over3.concerning reliability, cooperation, attention to details andadaptability/flexibility. Work skill of solving complex problems, work knowledge ofhealth services and work capacity of cognitive ability is all over3, including service skill,oral expression, written understanding, finger tips, psychology, medication and biology.3. The result of classified and overall description to Armed forces is generallyconsistent, also showing their unique feature in categories of troops: the importantknowledge characters of education and training ships military medical(3.00±1.41) and airmedical(3.50±1.29). The cognitive ability is no longer the indication of categories oftroops medical.4. Compare the Chinese and American general military physicians. The correlation ofwork style is0.91(P<0.01), project agreement rate is84.62%. The correlation of workcapacity is0.67(P<0.05),project agreement rate is66.67%. The correlation of workknowledge is0.73(P<0.05),project agreement rate is80.77%.Conclusions:1. O*NET job analysis system can serve as an effective tool of job analysis anddescription of general military physician.2. General military physician can use KSAO to describe job feature effectively.3. The armed forces medical show markedly consistency, and they also have their uniquefeatures.4. The job features of Chinese and American general military physician have higherconsistency.
