ObjectiveTo investigate the clinical significance of serum levels of IL-10, IL-17, IL-9,IL-4, IFN-γ and TNF-ɑ with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).Methods52systemic lupus erythematosus patients and26healthy controls wereenrolled. Serum concentrations for IFN-γ, TNF-ɑ, IL-4, IL-10, IL-17, IL-9weremeasured by Luminex Liquidchip. Analysis the relationship between these cytokinesand SLEDAI score and clinical manifestations. Non-parametric test (Kruskal WallisTest), SNK-q Test and Spearman linear correlation analysis were used for statisticalanalysis.ResultsThe serum levels of IL-10, IL-17and TNF-ɑ in SLE patients weresignificantly higher than the healthy controls(P=0.003,0.028,0.000). The serum levelsof IL-9and IL-4were higher than the healthy controls, IFN-γ was lower than thehealthy controls, but the differences were no significant(P=0.874,0.423,0.190).There were positive correlations between serum levels of IL-10, IL-17, TNF-ɑ,ds-DNA, CRP, ESR and SLEDAI in SLE patients(r=0.351,0.316,0.276,0.533,0.426,0.615). There were positive correlations between serum levels of IL-10andds-DNA, ESR in SLE patients (r=0.351,0.358). There was a linear correlationbetween the serum levels of IL-17and IFN-γ (r=0.346). The serum levels of IL-17and IL-4in SLE patients with renal damage increased significantly as compared withthose in renal normal patients(P=0.007,0.010). The serum levels of IL-9in SLEpatients with joint damage increased significantly as compared with those in jointnormal patients(P=0.042). ConclusionThere were various cytokines abnormal expression in SLE patients. The serumlevels of IL-10, IL-17and TNF-ɑ increased significantly and there were positivecorrelations between the serum levels of them and disease activity in SLE patients.IL-4、IL-17may be related to SLE patients with renal damage. IL-9may be related toSLE patients with joint damage.Luminex liquichip is simple, convenient. It can simultaneously detect varietiesof cytokines and overcome many shortcomings of traditional cytokine detectionmethods such as ELISA or PCR. It is very likely to replace the traditional detectionmethods in the future.
