| Objective: To investigate the characteristics of enhancement patterns and time-intensity curves of benign and malignant breast tumors on contrast-enhancedultrasound,and provide imaging evidences for the preoperative identification ofbenign and malignant breast tumors. Methods:46patients with50lesions werechosen from December2012to December2013at Affiliated Hospital of QinghaiUniversity whom were diagnosed as breast tumors. Record all the patients’clinicaldata in detail. First, examined patients by conventional and color Doppler ultrasoundto get the best sections of the lesions and record the locationã€sizeã€numberã€internalecho and the aspect ratio of the mass measurement then carefully observe the interiorblood-flow circumstances of the masses, to make a preliminary diagnosis beforeangiography. Then switch to the contrast mode. Injected SONOVUE5ml by cubicalvein, then10ml of saline bolus. Observe the dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasoundprogress6mins. Downloaded all the pictures and progresses to be analyzed. Selectedthe strongest intraregional contrast perfusion region as ROI area, The softwareautomatically draw time-intensity curves to get parameters as arrive time(AT)ã€time topeak(TTP)ã€peak intensity(PI)ã€area under the curve(AUC).Patients were followedup in time. And the CEUS results were compared with the postoperative pathologicalfindings. All the results were statistically analyzed. Results:1ã€There were25benigncases in46patients with50lesions. CEUS characteristics mainly performancenon-enhanced enhancement and homogeneous enhancement, Time-intensity curves ofthis group displayed “fast wash in and fast washoutâ€ã€â€œslow Wash in and fastwashout†type.2ã€There were25malignant cases in46patients with50lesions.CEUS characteristics mainly performance heterogeneous enhancement and peripheralenhancement, time-intensity curves of this group displayed“fast wash in and slowwashoutâ€type.3ã€Arriving time(AT)of benign breast tumors was later than malignantbreast tumors, but the difference had not statistical significance (P>0.05), and thedifferences of the peak intensity, peak time and area under the curve between benignand malignant breast tumors had statistical significance (P <0.05).Conclusion: Contrast-enhanced ultrasound provides a more accurate diagnosis for benign andmalignant breast tumors, which is expected to become a kind of breast tumorpreoperative noninvasive imaging method. |
