Objective:To observe the effect of different altitude on basic fibroblast growth factorexpressions of serum and the correlation between bFGF and FEV1/FVC%、FEV1%Pred in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseasesbefore and after treatment as well as the healthy. Methods:The serum contents of bFGF in patients with AECOPD before and aftertreatment as well as the healthy at two different altitudes were measured by ELISAmethod, then the data were collected and analysed.Results:(1)The levels of bFGF in patients with AECOPD before and after treatmentwere higher than those of the control group both in two different altitudes, the levelsof bFGF in patients with AECOPD were decreased after treatment, and the decreasingof bFGF in patients with AECOPD after treatment at low altitude were higher thanthose of moderate altitude, the bFGF levers of the control group is lower than those ofmoderate altitude (P<0.05).(2)Compared with the two groups respectively, there hasno significant difference of the bFGF levels in patients with AECOPD before andafter treatment.(3)The FEV1/FVC%、FEV1%Pred in patients with AECOPD beforeand after treatment in moderate altitude group are significantly lower than controlgroup, and the FEV1/FVC%、FEV1%Pred were improved after treatment, and therehas no significant difference of the FEV1/FVC%、FEV1%Pred between the twogroups at different altitudes.(4)There has no significant correlation betweenexpression of bFGF and FEV1/FVC%、FEV1%Pred in patients with AECOPD.Conclusion: BFGF was involved in the pathogenesis of COPD,the determination ofbFGF in COPD serum level may be used to estimate the treatment effect of thedisease. Moderate altitude hypoxia environment can increase the stimulation of bFGFexpression.
