Objective: To explore the significance and the serum levels of interleukin-17(IL-17),interleukin-18(IL-18), and interleukin-33(IL-33) in obstructive sleep apnea-hypopneasyndrome (OSAHS) with hypertension patients as well as the clinical significance.Methods:77OSAHS patients were diagnosed by polysomnography and randomlyselected. These patients could be divided into two groups. The OSAHS group was made upof only OSAHS with57cases, which included12cases of mild OSAHS,16cases ofmoderate OSAHS and29cases of severe OSAHS. Another was OSAHS accompanyinghypertension, which consisted of20patients.23healthy cases from our hospital were alsoselected as control. Through monitoring the sleep apnea, the corresponding index wererecorded and3ml venous blood of experimental subjects were taken in the next morningto test the levels of IL-17, IL-18, and IL-33. Detail comparisons were made in these threegroups to analyze relationship between the compositions of each cytokines and OSAHS aswell as its complications.Results:1. The levels of IL-17, IL-18, and IL-33of the OSAHS group increased sharplyas compared with control. The more serious the OSAHS was, the higher the values were.We also found that the levels of IL-17, IL-18, and IL-33present positive correlations withthe AHI, and negative ones with the LSaO2.2. Compared with the OSAHS only, the leverof the IL-17, IL-18, IL-33in OSAHS combined with hypertension increased sharply, andAHI of the former were greater than the latter. However, the situation was different interms of the LSaO2. Namely, the former has a smaller one than the latter. Conclusions: Repeated nocturnal hypoxemia could increase the levels of inflammatorycytokines of the patients with OSAHS. The inflammatory process may increase theseverity of OSAHS, as well as the risk of combined with hypertension and otherassociated complications.
