Objective: To analyze the personality traits of community doctors and thesituation of job satisfaction, this is conductive to enhancing the service qualityof community physician. Methods: make a survey of116communityphysicians in Guangzhou by adopting the Chinese version of the EysenckPersonality Questionnaire which is revised by Professor Gong Yaoxian in1983and the Job Satisfaction Scale made by Spector in1985. Results:1) the jobsatisfaction of demographic characteristics: the comparison of remuneration,managers, operating procedures, colleagues, work itself and thecommunication dimension between women and men have significantdifference (all P <0.05), and the female satisfaction are all higher than men;the colleagues and communicative dimensions satisfaction of highly educatedpeople have significant difference (P <0.05), the highly educated person areless satisfied; with the increase of age, in the promotion and reward dimension,there exist significant difference (P <0.05), older people have highersatisfaction; With the increase of working experience, there exist significantdifference (P <0.05) in the dimension of remuneration, promotion,managers,reward and the work itself, people with high income have highersatisfaction; with the improvement of titles, the dimension of work itself hassignificant difference (P <0.05), people with high titles have higher satisfaction.2) work satisfaction of personality traits: Psychoticism in the dimension ofmanager has significant difference (P <0.05), with the increase of score rating,the satisfaction fall; introversion and extroversion in the communicationsatisfaction dimensions have significant difference (P <0.05), the standardscore between40to60group’s satisfaction is the highest; the neurotic incompensation, benefits, incentives and operating procedures satisfaction hassignificant difference (P <0.05), with the increase of different standard grad,the satisfaction fall, the nervousness in job satisfaction dimension hassignificant difference (P <0.05), the standard score of40to60group have thehighest satisfaction; personality types in the interests satisfaction dimensionhave significant difference (P <0.05), the sanguine type’s satisfaction ishighest, and melancholic is lowest. Conclusion: in the demographic aspects,1)the job satisfaction of women in each dimension are higher than men, may berelated to the occupational characteristics. Highly educated people have lowerevaluation in the dimension of colleagues and communication.3) With the increase of age, working years, monthly income and the title, the satisfaction ofthese dimensions are also improved. Job satisfaction of community physiciansare closely related with personality traits.1) High stubborn influence thesatisfaction evaluation of managers.2) High neuroticism has low evaluationtoward remuneration, benefits, incentives and operating procedures, and likelyto hold negative feelings.3) Introversion and extroversion influence thecommunication satisfaction.4) Outgoing stable trait’s overall satisfaction is high,and the introvert unstable trait’s overall satisfaction is low. The workingenvironment and nature of community hospital may lead to the genderdifference of job satisfaction; the male employees should be paid moreattention by managers. To enhance managers’ understanding of thepersonality traits, and find employees whose personality traits are more fit forthe job, and distribute work according to the staff’s personality traits can helpemployees improve work efficiency and quality, which is also conductive toenhancing the service quality of community physician.
